Angelina Paris NYC: Afternoon Tea Review

The famous Parisian café known for its rich, decadent hot chocolate has a location steps from Bryant Park in New York City. I visited after I noticed they offer a teatime menu at this NYC outpost.

Angelina Paris USA

On every trip to Paris I stop at Angelina for their legendary hot chocolate, so I was excited when they opened near Bryant Park. They also operate a location on the Upper East Side, but the Bryant Park shop is the one offering teatime.

I’ve been updating my list of afternoon tea options in NYC and wanted to try Angelina’s teatime. The layout includes a front counter for takeout and table service toward the back. It feels somewhat similar to Ladurée in Soho in concept—counter in front, seating behind—but on a smaller, more modern scale.

The afternoon tea offering is labeled “Teatime” on Angelina’s menu because they don’t include scones; otherwise the format mirrors a classic afternoon tea set. Many French-inspired spots call their service “teatime” and omit scones.

Reservations

Angelina Bryant Park operates on a walk-in basis only; they do not accept reservations.

Dress Code

The café maintains a relaxed atmosphere, so there’s no formal dress code—casual attire is fine.

Afternoon Tea Hours

Teatime is available daily and is served throughout opening hours. Current hours are Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM and weekends from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

How Afternoon Tea Works at Angelina Paris in NYC

The set is called “Teatime.” You select your beverage—tea, coffee, or the famous hot chocolate—and a juice choice (orange or grapefruit). The food comes as a fixed assortment: a two-tier tray arrives with savory bites on the bottom tier and sweets on top. Be sure to notify staff of any allergies in advance.

The proper order is to enjoy the savory items first, followed by the sweets, with your chosen drinks served at the start.

Teatime Menu

$49 per person
Choose tea, coffee, or their signature hot chocolate, plus orange or grapefruit juice. The set includes five savories and four sweets. A glass of Champagne is available for an additional $26. Menu items and prices are subject to change.

Setting: ★★★☆☆

The Bryant Park location aims to evoke the Paris flagship but reads as a newer, cleaner space rather than the lived-in, opulent salon of the original. It has a museum-café vibe—polished and pleasant, though not overwhelmingly luxurious.

Service: ★★★★☆

Staff were friendly and attentive. The only drawback was that the two-tiered tray was set down without an explanation of each item; a brief description would improve the experience.

Tea & Tea Selection: ★★★★☆

I considered their signature hot chocolate—it’s what Angelina is famous for and costs a bit more than tea—but opted for a pot of Mont-Blanc tea. The Mont-Blanc blend is a black tea with notes of candied chestnuts, biscuit, toffee, orange blossom, and apricot. It offered a pleasant, slightly sweet complexity without being heavy.

Teas are served loose-leaf in disposable tea paper filters, so no separate strainer is required. The menu listed eleven teas, a mix of blends and single-origin choices.

Savories: ★★★☆☆

The set includes five savory mini hors d’oeuvres per person: avocado toast, a chicken club, a warm truffle croque-monsieur, a quinoa salad, and a salmon wafer. Each component was nicely executed, though a few items—like the delicate salmon wafer—were tricky to eat and could fall apart after the first bite.

Scones: N/A

As with many French-style teatime offerings, Angelina’s set does not include scones.

Sweets: ★★★☆☆

The dessert tier is very sweet. You receive four petits desserts, including a miniature version of their signature Mont-Blanc. The Mont-Blanc was rich and indulgent, but overall the sweets leaned toward cloying after a couple of bites. The macarons had excellent flavor, though I found the texture slightly off compared with the best macaron experiences.

Overall: ★★★☆☆

At $49 per person, Angelina’s Bryant Park Teatime is a solid, enjoyable option—especially if you’re curious about their hot chocolate or classic Parisian pastries. If you’re comparing NYC teatimes, nearby alternatives may offer larger portions or different value propositions, but Angelina remains a reliable pick for a Parisian-style tea experience in Midtown Manhattan.
